'can't love you anymore'
December 2022

This visual adaptation of the song Can’t Love You Anymore by IU and OHHYUK (titled the same as the song) visualizes the song as an article in a newspaper. The lyrics of the song are split up throughout the page by the different verses that are sung by two singers sharing their thoughts on an ending relationship. The bridge of the song, which mimics a conversation between the two, is incorporated into the images of the “article” as text messages. The original Korean lyrics and the English translations sit side by side in the article as equals to both respect the original language while still being accessible for the target English-speaking audience. The images used emphasize a sense of nostalgia as well as displacement, while the color of the newspaper and the coffee stains indicate that this article is from well in the past, implying the current state of the relationship.
